Tane Leong

Tane is currently working as a policy analyst at the Ministry for Primary Industries, in the climate, land and water policy space. Prior to this, Tane was a member of the Victoria University of Wellington, School of Government, Graduate Pathway Programme, and a summer intern at Motu Economic and Public Policy Research.

In November 2019, Tane was awarded the Prime Minister's Prize in Public Policy - awarded to the student with the best overall performance in the Master of Public Policy course at Victoria.

Tane joined Motu as a Summer Intern in November 2017, after completing a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics and minoring in Political Studies at Otago University. At Motu, Tane worked with Arthur Grimes on designing a Māori Living Standards Framework.

Over the course of his studies, Tane worked as a Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) facilitator, a consultant for the student-run not-for-profit Ignite Consultants and as an intern with the Methodist Mission. In his spare time, Tane enjoys playing touch rugby and spending time with his friends.
