Ana Pueyo

Dr Ana Pueyo was a Research Fellow at Motu Research from 2021-22.

 

At Motu Research, Ana was the Project Manager for the Climate Teams initiative. The Climate Teams project aims at promoting cooperation between countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions beyond their nationally determined contributions (NDCs), under the umbrella of Article 6.2 of the United Nations Paris Agreement.

 

Ana trained as an economist and completed her PhD in Industrial Engineering, focusing on renewable energy technology transfer to developing countries. She has led large international research projects about renewable energy investment and energy access, mainly in the Sub-Saharan African region. Her research follows a multi-methods approach, combining qualitative analysis with quantitative insights and participatory methods. She teaches at postgraduate level at the Institute of Development Studies, where she convenes the Master’s course “Competing in the Green Economy”. She has published her work in several international peer-reviewed journals.

 

During her career, Ana has worked closely with policymakers. She was the Technical Advisor to the Director of the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, based in Cape Verde. She has also advised policymakers in the UK, Spanish and EU Governments about energy and climate policy, air quality and green procurement.
